Otter Point State Recreation Area

There are three different places you can walk to from the Otter Point State Recreation Area parking lot.  When we got out of the car, a gal told us the best was to Agate Beach and it was the best trail.  She lied.  We had to use a rope to half-way rappel down to the beach.  When we got there the tide was coming in.

Starting back up the trail.  See the rope?

There were muddy areas and places we couldn't have navigated without the rope.

After getting back to the parking lot, we walked to the other side to start on the other trail.  After a ways it split.  To the right was the trail to the point and to the left was the Oregon Coast Trail.

We took the Oregon Coast Trail even though we knew it ended up on Bailey's Beach after a short while.

We decided we would go down to the beach and see if we could find where the Oregon Coast Trail continued.

Looking north to the point.

We followed the beach south.  Nolan decided he would run out to this rock.

But he chickened out when the water came back in.  Didn't want to get his shoes wet.

Some of the many beach treasures picked up during our walk.

Thought this seaweed would make a good whip but you had to twirl to get it up in the air.

Probably sand pipers

Saw this interesting plant but never came up with a name for it.

Bye Bailey's Beach

Next we walked out to the point

There were various sea tunnels through the point.

Ok, so this wasn't a sea tunnel.  Just some ground cover that had grown over the hill.

Looking north

The top of the point didn't have much vegetation on it.
