Kettle Moraine State Forest - North Unit in Wisconsin

Kettle Moraine State Forest has many areas.  We went to the Northern Unit to hike and learn about the geology of the area.

We decided to hike to the tower for an overview of the area.

Some little boys that hiked up after us had counted around 270 steps to the base of the tower.  The tower is at the top of this flight.

We didn't pick the clearest day to go.

We couldn't see the things listed on this sign.  It was mounted to an pipe that swiveled to each of the items so you could see them.

We ended up hurrying back down the trail to escape most of this rain that was moving in.  It was only a very heavy mist/super light sprinkle type of rain.

Next stop was the Ice Age Visitor Center by Dundee, WI

Read the posts to see how glaciers changed the landscape in this area.

You really can't see the kame for all the vegetation on it.

Coming back from the view of White Kame, the trail passed through a small area of trees that had been planted in rows.  Someone had made their own side trail through the trees by clearing out the branches.
