West of Silver City there is an open pit copper mine that can be viewed from the road.
In this photo you can see one of the "little" dump trucks headed down to the bottom of the mine. The following photos tell the story of the mine and surrounding area.
There's also information about the cost of the dump trucks and the shovels that fill them.
The mine went on for miles along side the road.
