Horseshoe Curve National Historic Site

Horseshoe Curve is by Altoona, PA

We rode the funicular up the hill to the track.  As our car went up, another came down and we met where there are two tracks in the middle.

Looking out over the lake.  The track comes up from the left, goes around behind where we are and goes up the hill on the right.

Only the line of treeless area lets you know where the track is located.  The track would be partially visible in the winter.

The overgrown cut.

The diesel gauge on the locomotive

The diesel tank ran the complete width of the train.
