Capulin Volcano National Monument, New Mexico

So we drove the circular road to the rim of the crater.

The parking lot is at the lowest part of the rim.  This is looking into the crater.

Zooming in on the visitor center

Normal view from the upper parking lot.  Visitor Center in lower left.

Starting our climb around the rim trail.

Little town of Capulin where our truck and trailer is parked.

Slope down into the crater

Looking across the crater to the lower part of the rim where the parking lot is located.

Zooming in on our car in the parking lot.

Hard to see those pressure ridges.

There was an occasional bench.

Looking down into the crater.

Zoomed in you can see the trail and an information display

Prickly thing growing in the asphalt trail

Ranches abound in the area.

Must be a corral where they gather the cows for branding.

All the dead stumps were cut like this.

Baby Capulin

We went to Des Moines, NM for gas before we left Capulin and got this photo of Capulin Volcano.

Upon moving a little further forward so I didn't have the horses in the photo, I spotted a snake in the grass.
