Athens and Acropolis Museum

At the Paris airport waiting for our flight to Athens.  That's a glass ceiling so you can tell this photo was taken when it was still dark out.

Sign before baggage claim

Not much of a view of Athens as we came in from the airport on the way to the Athens Hilton.

Nice big shower

This was the door to the hallway and the handle on the right was the sliding door for the closet.

Closet opened

I believe this was a chicken gyro

Model of the Acropolis

Notice that some of the floors are glass so people could see the ongoing excavations below.

Excavations are still ongoing under the museum

Time to go up the steps to the second floor.

At this point we were told that picture taking was no longer allowed on this floor of the museum.

Meet Dromeas, also called “The Runner,” who is a 30 foot statue made from stacked plates of glass that connote speed. It was created in 1994 by Greek sculpture Costas Varotsos and stands in the Hilton square on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue in Athens, Greece.
