We figured we better go to some highland games while we were in Scotland. |
Just had to pose by this huge rhododendron by the music tent. |
Closeup of the flowers. |
All that remains of the original castle is the East Wing. It is being restored by Angus Gordon Lennox, descendant of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon, and his wife Zara. |
Now why would I take a photo of the portapotties? |
Because I loved the name of the company... heiland loos, lol. |
What's a county fair if you don't partake of some of the food. We had hot chocolate and, when it got warm, ice cream. |
My main interest in going to the games was to watch the heavy events. These include the 42 pound weight over the bar which cleared 16'! This photo was taken at a lower height |
The massed pipe bands made a couple circumnavigations of the field. |
Flag flying over the tower |
Imagine tossing this large pole end over end. |
This is the 16 pound hammer throw. |
Contestants swing it around and around before letting go to see who can throw it the furthest. |
Contestants wedge spikes attached to their shoes into the ground for stability. |
Contestants threw 16 lb and 22 lb hammers. |
What county fair doesn't include tractors and cars? |
I've heard of Massey-Ferguson but not Massey-Harris. |
Some brands were familiar to me |
