To Gold Beach, OR

  Unbeknownst to us, the Chetco Bar Fire had exploded overnight when NE winds blew down the Chetco River.  We saw ash covered cars in downtown Brookings.  We left Brookings and headed to Crescent City for the day.  The smoke and ash followed us south.   This photo was when we were headed north back to Brookings.  You can see the blue sky ahead.

But when we got closer to Brookings, the smoke moved back in.  the rental home we were going to go to was very, very close to the fire.  So during the day we had arrangements to go to a different rental home.   One north of Gold Beach, OR.  That meant we had to drive back through Brookings.
