Our next stop was the beach at Parksville. We watched as a kite master skillfully maneuvered this kite into loop-de-loop in both directions. Impressive! |
I've always wanted to go to see sand sculptures and we were lucky to be in the area just after a sand sculpture contest. |
The detail on these were something to see. Wonderful. We were each given a token to place in the box by the sculpture we liked the most. |
See the shark fin to the lower right? That man hanging out of the tub had a worried look on his face. |
The donkey with the lion skin on its back wasn't disguised enough for the wolf. |
I had never heard of some of these fairy tales. |
This one was so funny. |
Look at the detail on the side. |
This was my favorite. Just look at all the detail. Click on it to enlarge. |
This was Nolan's favorite. |
This was our friend's choice. |
Close up of the cat in front of the last sculpture. |
After checking out the sand sculptures, we listened to some free entertainment on the beach then walked out to the water. |
I have never seen live sand dollars before but they were everywhere. You couldn't walk without stepping on them. |
I picked up a few souvenirs on the beach. I was told the sand dollars were dead since they were turning black. |
Once at home I bleached the sand dollars. One has a few orange tinted areas. |
